Celebrate the Transatlantic Policy Center’s fifth anniversary and International Education Week with a discussion on key transatlantic challenges! Topics will include Ukraine, China, and the Middle East with guests H.E. Andreas Michaelis, Germany’s Ambassador to the US; H.E. Jovita Neliupšienė, the EU’s Ambassador to the US; and Ms. Agnes Von der Muhll, France’s Deputy Chief of Mission to the US. Moderated by TPC Co-Directors and SIS professors Michelle Egan and Garret Martin, the event will conclude with an audience Q&A.

Abdul Aziz Said Symposium Keynote Address: Trauma Recovery and Peacebuilding

The Abdul Aziz Said Symposium keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Sandra Peake, CEO of Belfast’s Wave Trauma Centre. A leading voice in trauma recovery and peacebuilding, Dr. Peake will share her insights on healing from conflict and the role of trauma support in building lasting peace. Reception to follow.

Leveling the Playing Field: Tackling Racial Bias

Sport reflects society’s broader struggles, including racial abuse faced by athletes at all levels, from hostile chants to online harassment. Join moderator Jeremi Duru, Director of the Sport & Society Initiative at the Washington College of Law, along with guest speakers Dominique Badji, Forward for DC United; Allen Hopkins Jr., Executive Director of Black Players for Change; Andrew V. Morris III, Public Policy Counsel for the NFL Players Association; and Jessica Wright, General Counsel of DC United and DC Power FC. Together, they will examine the roots of such behavior and explore how sport can be a force for positive change — overcoming bias, fostering solidarity, and building inclusive communities. Held in partnership with Football for Peace and AU’s Washington College of Law, this event furthers the goal to promote peace through sport and diplomacy. Enjoy a complimentary lunch and networking before the event.
