In 2023, Orange County launched a major effort—called the Orange County Land Use Plan 2050 —to establish a cohesive, county-wide land use vision for the future and an actionable strategy to achieve that vision. This planning process will result in a rewrite of one of Orange County’s key policy documents—the Land Use Plan. This video is an overview of the project.

Learn About Orange Programs at the Orange County Roadshow |
Orange County government will host community meetings at different locations throughout the year to present information about county services to community members in a welcoming environment. Sessions will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour to allow residents to ask questions of staff and meet any elected officials in attendance. Departments will have tables set up with information about programs and services and staff to answer questions.
Each session will include a few formal presentations on issues of interest to our community. Beverages and snacks will be provided.
Residents will have the opportunity to accomplish many tasks in one place, including:

Check voter registration information and update or apply to vote
- Fill out a passport application
- Obtain a marriage license
- Receive a flu shot or COVID vaccine (based on availability and season) or make appointments for services with the Health Department

Register for activities at Library, Aging or Recreation
- Apply for property tax payment plan
- Fill out an application for the Longtime Homeowners Assistance Program
- Apply for state tax assistance programs (Present Use Value, Disabled Vets, Homestead Exclusion)
- Apply for Solid Waste Fee Assistance Program
- Sign up for a library card
- Apply for Economic Development small business or agriculture grants
- Learn how to appeal property values
- Apply to serve on a board or committee

Temperatures are expected to drop below 32 degrees on Thursday, Jan. 4 and Friday, Jan. 5. Expanded Cold Weather Cots are available at Southern Human Services Center at 2501 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill.
