| THE CAREER SUCCESS LAB

ONLINE
In today's rapidly changing world, you need more digital skills than ever before to flourish and succeed in your career. The Grow with Google Career Readiness Program offers you interactive learning paths that will help you build digital and practical skills needed to thrive in internships or post-college employment. The Career Success Lab at NJCU is excited to offer you this digital tool to excel in your future endeavors. Resume writing, interview techniques, networking tips and how to succeed in a new job, are but a few lessons you can use.
Why Digital Skills Training?
Digital literacy, problem-solving, and creative skills are essential for current and future jobs. Yet, among 18- to 25-year-olds, less than half (44%) believe their education system is preparing them with the skills they need to enter the workforce. We at Grow with Google have a responsibility to ensure that the young people we serve can gain the skills required for the workplace. Then, they can move toward their bright and successful futures knowing they are well-prepared.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING
Experience Dalcroze!
July 26-28, 2022
9 a.m.-12 p.m.
This workshop is an opportunity for music teachers to learn about the Dalcroze methodology in an experiential, three-day workshop. Teachers that already have experience with this teaching paradigm will benefit from further learning. Dr. Tom Parente is a certified Dalcroze instructor with decades of experience teaching and guiding pre-service and in-service teachers in the various ways to include movement study to their music teaching.
This course will provide in-service teachers with valuable tools to encompass music and movement, improvisation and creative work to their classes, all required areas of the Core Standards.
The workshop will encompass the three major areas of Dalcroze: movement, Solfège, and piano improvisation over a three-morning workshop intensive. Professional development hours are available.
SCHEDULE:
9:00-9:45: movement
9:45-10:00: break
10:00-10:45: Solfège
10:45-11:00: break
11:00-11:45: Piano Improvisation
11:45-12:00: Wrap-up
TESTIMONIAL:
"Dr. Parente had come to one of our intro to music education classes and he conducted a Dalcroze method workshop. Learning about Dalcroze and getting to experience what the method is like in real life was amazing. I noticed that it kept me and my colleagues engaged and energized. Learning from Dr. Parente was fantastic and I'm glad I got the chance to work with him. He knew how to keep the students interested. I had a blast in this workshop and I will definitely be thinking about the Dalcroze method as a teaching method in the future."
