and A Modern History of Forgotten Genocides and Mass Atrocities

SIS Peace, Human Rights and Cultural Relations professor Jeff Bachman will launch his two new books: Genocide Studies: Pathways Ahead and A Modern History of Forgotten Genocides and Mass Atrocities. The first explores current manifestations of genocide and those likely to emerge in the future, and the second highlights cases of genocide and other mass atrocities across five continents over the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries that have largely been pushed to the periphery. He will discuss the topics with SIS PhD student Esther Brito Ruiz followed by an audience Q&A. There will be refreshments and books available for purchase.

Learning With and From Grassroots Rights Defenders

The Accountability Research Center (ARC) bridges research and grassroots perspectives to advance strategies to improve public and corporate accountability. Five members of the ARC team will share insights on their work with grassroots rights defenders in Colombia, Guatemala, and the Philippines. A reception will follow the discussion.
