Thanksgiving Day - November 23
Gather around the table and share a delicious traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. Visit Wicked Wingz/Cocina Fresca for a dine-in menu 11 am-2 pm. Use a Meal Swipe, Dining Dollars, Wolfie Wallet or credit/debit card. Unlimited meal plans can use two take-outs per day so you can take an extra meal to go on Thanksgiving Day using the SBU Eats Goes Green container.

Menu: Roasted Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash Soup; Traditional Roasted Turkey with Apple Cider Gravy; Roasted Root Vegetables in a Cranberry Citrus Glaze; Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Balsamic Glaze; Shaved Parmesan and Bacon Lardons; Bourbon Maple Sweet Potato Mash; Au Gratin Potatoes with Gruyere, Parmesan and Roasted Garlic; Baked Apple Pecan Cornbread Stuffing; Warm Buttermilk Biscuits; Cranberry Orange Chutney; Beyond Meat Vegan Shepherd’s Pie and Stuffed Shells. Join Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine as we sponsor the 27th Annual Charles Dickens Festival Dec. 2 and 3 in the Village of Port Jefferson, which will magicallly transform into the Dickensian era. All events are open to the public and most attractions are free. The festivities will feature outdoor ice skating at the Village Center, a cappella performance by choirs and harmony groups, Nutcracker performances, magic shows by The Great Wizard of the North, and musical performances by area musicians. In addition, this year’s festival will feature Theater Three’s Annual production of A Christmas Carol.

SBU and SBM will also be sponsoring and decorating one of 27 trees displayed at the Port Jefferson Festival of Trees at the Village Center. The trees will be on display during the month of December.

See Our Groundbreaking Partnership Addressing Healthcare Disparities

Congratulations to Omar Badessi, PhD candidate in the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literature, who recently received the Marjorie Kending Award for Outstanding Translation from The Institute of General Semantics. This award was granted in recognition of his translation work from English to Arabic on "Practical Fairy Tales for Everyday Living," Revised Second Edition, authored by Martin H. Levinson. In addition, Badessi recently presented a lecture, "Decoding Hispano-Moroccan Conflicts: A General Semantics Analysis" at the Annual Alfred Korzybski Memorial Lecture and Symposium.

Food Drive
The Stony Brook Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and News 12 - your home team for local news and weather - are partnering for a food drive in November, benefiting the SBU food pantry. Bring non-perishable food items to an upcoming basketball game and receive one free ticket. Bins will be located in the Island Federal Arena Lobby outside of the Dubin Family Athletic Performance Center and in the Pritchard Gymnasium Lobby.
