New Funding Opportunity - Now Open for Submissions |
We are excited to announce the launch of the Building Research Innovation, Discovery, and Growing Engagement (BRIDGE 2.0) Program, supported by the Provost Innovation Fund.
BRIDGE 2.0 aims to establish Centers of Excellence that will enhance SHSU’s research visibility and national reputation as a major contributor to new knowledge and technology for Texas.
Program Highlights:
• Funding: Up to $250,000 over three years.
• Purpose: Seed funding for interdisciplinary research, translational applications, or impactful academic service. • Eligibility: Open to all tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Key Dates:
• Pre-Proposal Inquiries Deadline: March 18, 2025
• Full Proposal Deadline: April 1, 2025

Deadline Extended - ORSP's Annual Performance Survey |
We are conducting our 2023-2024 Annual Performance Review and we invite you to share your experience with us!
If you have collaborated with ORSP in the past, we would greatly appreciate a few minutes of your time to complete our survey. The survey consists of 25 questions and takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
The deadline has been extended to December 13, 2024. Your responses are completely anonymous and will be used to improve our services and support to SHSU researchers.

Interested in Serving as a Review Panelist for NSF? |
The National Science Foundation is currently looking for review panelists for several programs, including their S-STEM scholarship program.
Why volunteer? Serving as a panelist allows you to learn more about the grant review process and have the opportunity to read and evaluate several grant proposal submissions. The experience can be an invaluable resource to improve the quality of written proposals and increase their chance of award.
If you are interested, please complete the following questionnaire. You will be contacted by NSF staff if your expertise aligns with the program’s needs based on the collection of submitted proposals.

Join Us for a Post-Finals Writing Retreat |
December 18, 10am - 2pm in NLG 402
After finals are over and grades are in, take some time to focus on your research and writing! Come and go as your schedule allows to enjoy some dedicated quiet time and shared accountability. Lunch will not be served, but you’re welcome to bring your own or take a break midday to eat.

Dr. Ali Dinc (Department of Engineering Technology) submitted a $3.6 million proposal to the Space Exploration and Aeronautics Research Fund (SEARF) program at the Texas Space Commission.
Dr. Vinoth Sittaramane (College of Osteopathic Medicine) submitted a $531k proposal to the HEAL Initiative: Pain Research Enhancement Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Amar Rasheed (Department of Computer Science) submitted a $451k proposal to the Devcom: Army Research Labs Broad Agency Announcement.

Looking for funding? Here are some opportunities with upcoming deadlines:
1) Awards for Faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions
This NEH program support individual faculty and staff in pursuing humanities research, writing, and curriculum development. Recipients can receive $5,000 per month for projects lasting 2–12 months. Open to full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty, the program funds diverse projects, including books, articles, digital resources, and cultural preservation initiatives. It aims to enrich humanities scholarship and education at HSIs, allowing applicants to work between half-time and full-time on their projects.
Deadline: April 9, 2025
2) Humanities Initiatives at Hispanic-Serving Institutions
With awards of up to $150,000 for one to three years, this funds initiatives like curriculum development, interdisciplinary programs, and local history integration. It aims to foster understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures, ideas, and practices while building institutional capacity, and encourages innovative teaching approaches that strengthen the humanities to better serve students.
Deadline: May 6, 2025
3) Humanities Connections
The NEH Humanities Connections program supports interdisciplinary undergraduate education by fostering collaborations between humanities faculty and other disciplines. With grants of up to $50,000 for planning (12 months) and $150,000 for implementation (18–36 months), the program funds innovative curricular projects that integrate humanities perspectives into non-humanities fields like science, business, or technology. Projects must blend the methodologies and learning activities of multiple disciplines to enhance student learning.
Deadline: September 4, 2025
