Message from the Chair
Kala Seal, Ph.D.
Hello! As chair of Information Systems and Business Analytics (ISBA) at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), it is my privilege to share some exciting news from our growing department.
First off, we changed our name from AIMS to ISBA. While the focus is the same, the new and improved name is a better reflection of the knowledge and skills students learn in the major.
Our faculty are engaged in cool research projects and publishing in top journals. Their research is solving real business problems such as removing bottlenecks in mortgage approval by analyzing textual communications, creating better healthcare processes based on analysis of past data, and using analytics to create non-invasive procedures for detecting the progression of heart-related complications. Important, life-changing stuff!
We recently graduated an impressive class of undergraduate ISBA students as well as graduate students from our M.S. in Business Analytics (MSBA) program. We also created an advisory council with industry experts from various fields. Our primary goal is to ensure our academic efforts are creating solutions to today's most pressing business problems while teaching the most in-demand skills. Our focus is to be a force for good and build a better future through a commitment to continuous improvement, serving real business needs and moving the needle in the area of Information Systems and Business Analytics.
Thanks for reading and please stay healthy and safe!
Sincerely,
Kala Chand Seal, Ph.D.
