A 2021 Jess Choteau Outstanding Senior, president of honor societies Phi Eta Sigma and Tau Beta Pi, a Peer Mentors volunteer, recipient of multiple scholarships ... the list of Candelaria Alayon’s achievements and activities marches toward the horizon. Now in her final year of TU’s mechanical engineering program, one of the guiding principles for this high-octane student is creating opportunities for other Hispanic women and women of color to achieve personal and professional success in STEM fields.

After completing a summer internship with Synchrony Financial, political science major Kaela Lewis is devoting her final year at TU to leadership roles on campus and preparing for a career in the financial sector. “I definitely consider myself to be a girl boss,” said Lewis; “I am a busy person who loves to be involved in as many things as possible.” Despite all her commitments, Lewis is keeping up a full schedule while maintaining balance and harmony.

Beyond blarney
TU’s Collins College of Business and the Irish Institute of Digital Business at Dublin City University have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote research-focused cooperation and exchanges between their faculty, administrative staff, departments and research institutions. This agreement sets the groundwork for a collaborative relationship via the creation of dotLAB Midwest at TU, the first dotLAB Network member in North America.
