Dear Friends,
I wish you could see how beautiful campus is right now! The trees and flowers are in full bloom, the sun has been shining, and a snowy winter is finally behind us. One of the best things about this time of year is watching our soon-to-be alums taking pre-graduation photos in their caps and gowns in all the iconic spots on campus. I can’t stop smiling when I see the joy on their faces and the laughter they’re sharing with their friends—friends who they’ll no doubt have for life.
I hope that reading about our amazing graduate students who received scholarships this spring, and about the amazing donors and firms who make these scholarships possible, will bring you the same smiles and joy we get to experience this time of year. We are so, so lucky.
Not only that—I hope you enjoy catching up on the news about how we’ve transformed our introductory accountancy classes with the help of our MAcc students; how we’re keeping pace with AI (or at least trying to!); accomplishments of lots of students, faculty, and staff; and more. I’ll say it again—we are so, so lucky!
Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of everyone here, and especially our students who will be graduating the weekend of May 16–17!
Whatever your plans for the next few months, wishing you a summer full of warmth, relaxation, and good health!

Graduate Assistants Enhance the Introductory Accounting Experience |
All Farmer School of Business (FSB) students and general business minors take ACC 221, Introduction to Financial Accounting, and ACC 222, Introduction to Managerial Accounting. Given this demand, these classes are some of the largest at FSB, with section sizes greater than 250 students each. This can make it intimidating for students to ask questions and seek help when needed.
To help with this issue, the Accountancy Department added Friday morning recitation sessions led by graduate assistants (GAs) from our Master of Accountancy program. Sessions are capped in size to 30–35 students, making it easier for them to ask questions and for GAs to provide them with individualized instruction.

How Accountancy Courses Implement AI Across the Curriculum |
The Accountancy Department is one of the 13 academic departments at Miami leading the way to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) in its curriculum. Department Chair Anne Farrell, along with Michele Frank and our "AI champion" Ted Polat, have been working on integrating AI guiding principles into key accountancy courses within the curriculum. Michele Frank presented the team's work on April 8 at a gathering of the AI in the Majors participants.
