Message from the Interim Director of Extension
Last week, the Arizona legislature passed the FY23 Budget. There were many highlights for the University of Arizona in the budget but for me, the biggest was the approval of funding for Cooperative Extension for $8 million per year for the next three years and a one-time $30 million water conservation program. This demonstrates real faith and confidence from our legislators that Extension is implementing high-impact programs that make a difference across the state. Thank you to our legislators for your trust. There are many others to thank for helping get this funding for Extension, too many to name here. However, I do want to thank the UA Government Relations Team and our stakeholders and supporters who worked so hard to secure these funds for Extension. I also want to thank all our staff and faculty, on-campus, in the county offices, and on our Experiment Stations. In the end, your relationship with your stakeholders and your hard work providing outstanding Extension programming made this possible. This will indeed be an exciting year for Arizona Cooperative Extension.
