Near the end of her arts management studies, Jennifer Boyd Martin (BA '13) became 108|Contemporary's first intern. Since then, she has served this innovative organization in increasingly senior roles and recently was named executive director. "Many of our employees and interns have been students at TU," said Boyd Martin. "Having the chance to give them advice and support really is an example of life coming full circle."

Over at the deanery
The new year began on a high note at the TU College of Law with the arrival of Dean Oren Griffin. Prior to coming to TU, Griffin served as a professor and senior administrator at Mercer University School of Law. "My top aspirations are raising our law school's national profile, recruiting outstanding faculty, expanding our programs and offerings in Native American law, and making contributions to the Tulsa community," he said.

Origin story
Anthropology Professor Thomas Foster's new book, Apalachicola, follows the history of the people who contributed to the culture attributed to the Creek Indians. Focusing on their adaptation to a changing environment over a long period, Foster sheds light on this community prior to European colonialism and "how human societies have dealt with uncertainty and risk in their lives."

A cool eight million
The Collins College of Business' Student Investment Fund (SIF) started the semester at $8 million, making it one of the top 25 in the nation. SIF faculty advisor Tally Ferguson explains what the fund is and how it is a key element in finance students' education: "Thanks to the generous donations of TU friends and alumni, students have gained valuable hands-on experience that will prepare them for challenges in their careers."
