Going Green with Reclaimed Water Initiative

DTP's Maintenance Ambassadors are now using reclaimed water, provided by Tucson Water, to water plants in both planters and landscaped areas throughout downtown. This green initiative aligns with our Five-Year Strategic Plan and fulfills one of our climate action goals. Special thanks to Tucson Water and Kevin Burke, Deputy Director of the City of Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives and DTP Board Member, for helping make this possible. DTP currently plants and maintains 225 city-owned planters across the downtown Business Improvement District. Watch Tucson Water's Instagram Reel on this initiative here.

New Storefront Vinyl Program Addition at AC

The DTP has added 26 vibrant vinyl wraps to the ground-floor windows of the AC Hotel by Marriott at 151 E. Broadway Boulevard. This prime retail space in the heart of Tucson's Entertainment District offers 2,903 square feet of opportunity. For more information about leasing this space, contact Volk Company at 520-326-3200. Merchants Meeting Recap

The Downtown Merchants & Retail Council held a meeting on October 31 to discuss key updates including the Tucson Police Department's latest initiatives, the Stone Avenue Complete Streets Project, proposed parking meter extension hours, DUSK Music Festival and updates from DTP. New Speed Feedback Signs Installed Downtown

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) has installed two speed feedback signs downtown, located on eastbound Broadway Boulevard approaching Church Avenue and westbound Congress Street approaching Scott Avenue. These signs, requested by DTP’s Traffic Safety Task Force, show drivers their speed and remind them to slow down and take caution while traveling through a busy area with pedestrians, bicycles and multiple modes of transportation. Special thanks to Blake Olofson, with DTM, for helping bring these signs downtown.

IFL National Championship Game Coming to Tucson

Big news for Tucson: Rio Nuevo has approved funding to bring the IFL National Championship Game to the Tucson Arena starting in August 2025! Airing live on CBS Sports, this major event will boost our local economy over the next three years of championships, driving spending in restaurants, retail and hotel stays. Tucson Sugar Skulls fans, don’t miss out on the upcoming games this season - the 2025 home schedule is out now; secure your Boneyard Membership.

El Tour de Tucson + 5K Run/Walk

Get ready for the 41st year of El Tour de Tucson on November 23, where over 9,000 cyclists and 1,000 runners/walkers will participate in this iconic event. Since 1983, El Tour has raised nearly $121 million for nonprofits, with participants able to fundraise for their favorite causes. Additionally, be sure to check out the free El Tour Expo & Fiesta at the Tucson Convention Center from November 21-23, featuring exhibitors, food vendors, contests and a Dragoon beer garden.
