| Rockride Lane ribbon cutting 🚙
The City of Georgetown opened an improved, 0.8-mile portion of Rockride Lane on Tuesday.
From SE Inner Loop to Sam Houston Avenue, the road now has wider travel lanes, a center turn lane, right-turn lanes at intersections, curbs, and a shared-use path.
The project also includes a new traffic signal at the intersection of Rockride Lane and Sam Houston Avenue 🚦
The $12 million project was funded by the 2021 Georgetown transportation bond💲

| Curbside pickup returns to 7 a.m.
⚠️Residential Texas Disposal Systems solid waste/recycling customers in Georgetown will return to its regular pickup time of 7 a.m. starting this Monday, Sept. 7. TDS will pick up on Labor Day.
🗑️ All carts should be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your designated pick-up day.

| Closing Saturday: Provide feedback on the proposed FY 2027 budget
City Manager David Morgan presented the proposed Georgetown FY 2027 budget Aug. 11, which includes:
✔️ 39.5 new staff positions in various departments including 11 new police + fire positions
✔️ Transportation projects and park improvements
✔️ New fire station and public facilities design and construction
Additional revenue is needed to cover the increased cost to manage growth (such as major infrastructure projects, development pressures, and employee retention).
Provide comment on the budget through askGTX by this Saturday, Sept. 5.

Congratulations to our Arts & Culture grants recipients!
The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board approved $10,000 in grants in July to local arts and culture organizations to help with funding local arts and culture programming that includes orchestra, dance, and choral performances in Georgetown.
The 2026 Round II Grants have been awarded to the following organizations for the programs listed below:
🎭 Wilco Symphony for Concert Series 2 and 3 of the 2026-2027 Season for $3,300.
🎭 SAIVA (South Asians' International Volunteer Association) for “FABRIC — Fostering Arts, Bridging Intergenerations, Inspiring Creativity” for $2,500.
🎭 Central Texas Musical Arts for “A Celebration of Women Composers” for $2,200.
🎭 The San Gabriel Chorale for "On A Winter's Eve” for $2,000.

Outdoor warning sirens tested Saturday
📣 REMINDER: The City’s outdoor warning sirens will be tested at ⏰11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5.
Reminder, sirens are typically tested:
📅 1st Saturday of the month
🖼️ When there is no threat of inclement weather
🌪️The sirens are to alert those who are outside to threats such as a tornado
More about Saturday’s siren test:
The City of Georgetown’s 23 outdoor warning sirens rotate 360 degrees when activated so they can reach as many people as possible. Because of that, you may hear two back-to-back 60-second tones during today’s first-Saturday test. On the other Saturdays of the month the sirens run shorter 30-second “growl” tests instead.
Sirens are meant to be heard 📢 outdoors and are designed to prompt people to 📢 move inside. They are just one part of our public warning system, so we also encourage residents to sign up for emergency alerts at WarnCentralTexas.org and follow official City channels for real-time updates and safety information during inclement weather and emergency events.

| Free chlorine rinse through Sept. 3
🚰 From Aug. 3-Sept. 3, the City of Georgetown Water Utility will conduct system maintenance. You might notice a temporary change in water odor or color. Water remains safe to drink for humans, pets (except fish, see below), and plants. 🚰
📣 Important notice for dialysis patients and centers!
During our water system maintenance from Aug. 3-Sept. 3, take special precautions with water used for dialysis. Although safe for consumption, proper treatment is needed to remove disinfectants for use in the dialysis process.
🐠 Heads up, fish tank owners
During our water system maintenance, water won't be suitable for fish tanks or aquariums due to the temporary disinfection process change. Keep your aquatic friends safe by making alternative arrangements.
🏊️ Attention pool owners
During the maintenance period, chlorine levels should be maintained as usual to prevent algae and bacterial growth. Contact your local pool supply store for more details.
💧 Important facts
The maintenance being performed, called Free Chlorine Rinse, is a regular maintenance process recommended by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Concentrations maintained during the Free Chlorine Rinse period will be well within state and federal drinking water standards.
During the maintenance, hydrants will be flushed to maintain clear water and ensure the effectiveness of the process. When flushing hydrants, the water department will divert water onto lawns and grassy areas for reuse. Customers should not see a change in water pressure.
If a change occurs it should be momentary. Report low pressure persisting longer than an hour to the Customer Care team at customercare@georgetowntexas.gov.

Georgetown drivers can view lane and road closures through Waze and Google Maps 🎉!
Thanks to a partnership 🤝 between the City and Waze, we can load active lane and road closures into the apps, whether it's for 🚧 a road project, ⛔ a right of way closure, 🎶 a festival, or others.
Street and lane closures:
📍Church Street reduced to one lane with flaggers from University Avenue to 18th Street 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, Sept. 1-30
📍Paving work is happening Aug. 31-Sept. 4 on streets in the Spring Valley/Oak Crest II neighborhood and on Penny Lane, Wildwood Drive, and on streets in the Berry Creek neighborhood. See the weekly schedules at. See the weekly schedules.
📍Starting on Monday, Aug. 10, a City contractor will be applying a street sealant (HA5) on streets in the Summercrest, High Crest Meadows, Stillwater, and Oakmont neighborhoods. The work is expected to take approximately two weeks. Maps are schedules are available here.
