Dear Parents and Families, |
October is one of our favorite months at Duke! Not only do students get a breather during Fall Break, but they also get to see many of you during Family Weekend. To those we hosted last weekend, we hope you had a wonderful visit.
October also brings many changes to the semester! Students often have their first major assignments and exams, scheduling for the Spring semester is coming soon, and believe it or not summer opportunities are already being considered.
We are 44 days away until the last day of the fall semester! With the halfway point now behind us, your student will soon be preparing for finals. Some of your students may be looking toward internship opportunities, prepping for graduation, and beginning the job search process (if they haven’t already)! Wherever your student is on their Duke journey, we hope you and your student find time to reflect and appreciate all this semester has to offer.
On behalf of the Duke community, thank you for the many ways you support your student and our university.

What’s all the hype about DukeEngage?
DukeEngage, one of the university’s signature programs since 2007, offers an eight-week immersive summer experience for undergraduates to tackle critical social issues in partnership with local communities. This summer, approximately 200 Duke undergraduates will participate in one of 22 programs around the globe (including various locations across the U.S.), engaging in full-time work with non-profit organizations, cultural enrichment activities, and structured reflection.
With the November 1 application deadline approaching, students are gearing up to decide whether DukeEngage is right for them and which program they’re most interested in.
To learn more, visit DukeEngage or check out last year’s webinar for new students and families.
