We are desperate for five more host families
We are hosting Japanese exchange students for a short-term stay from May 19-22 and are in desperate need for five more families to help us host students.
Shukutoku Sugamo Junior High in Tokyo takes all of their 130 9th graders to Seattle for their annual school trip each year. We have agreed to host 35 students and need five more families willing to host two students each.
Stipends will be provided to host families to help offset the cost of hosting.
Host families provide
- A warm and supportive atmosphere
- Room and board (note: students can share a room with a host sibling of the same gender, but must have a separate bed. Air mattresses are acceptable).
- Transportation: Pick up stduents on Friday afternoon and drop them off Monday morning
Host families receive
- The opportunity to make lasting friendships and learn about another culture
- An international experience without ever leaving home
- The chance to make a difference in an exchange student's life
- Comprehensive support and assistance from program coordinators throughout the program
- $30 per student, per night stipend
If you are interested, please contact Yulia Brubaker, the head of our International Students Program.

Annual drama production is coming up
The Sound Christian Academy Drama Program has been hard at work preparing for the annual play and will present Our Town by Thornton Wilder in May.
Tickets are $5 each and are available at the door.
Per Wikipedia, Our Town is a three-act play created by American playwright Thornton Wilder in 1938. Described by Edward Albee as "the greatest American play ever written", it presents the fictional American town of Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. It is an essential play about how we must embrace and appreciate the value of life itself.
You won't want to miss these special performances!

Tardy and absence reminder
As the school year winds down, we wanted to provide a brief reminder about the tardy and absences policy of the school. Please remember that if your student will miss a day of class to communicate that with the front office the day they are out.
Moreover, we ask that students are on time to class to limit missed class time instruction, as well as to reduce disruptions that impact their teachers and classmates
