Holiday Traditions in Early Utah
Holiday Traditions in Early Utah
DECEMBER UTAH HISTORY LECTURE SERIES
Holiday Traditions & Community Celebrations in Early Utah
Dr. Lisa Olsen Tait will discuss how early Utah settlers celebrated the holidays together. Her presentation will include descriptions of traditions and engaging stories from the settlers' first years in Utah.
“The affection and camaraderie surrounding the early settlers in their humble homes was simple and heartfelt," said series sponsor Rebecca Champion. The small communities that dotted Utah joined together to express their love for each other by sharing food, supporting those who were lonely or sick, and spreading cheer. The fact that the communities were small and relied on each other for encouragement and support was what made Utah flourish. I wish at this holiday season that our Utah communities can similarly come together in love and friendship.”
