RICHARD L. MCCORMICK APPOINTED INTERIM PRESIDENT OF STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY 
Richard L. McCormick has been appointed interim president of Stony Brook University, effective August 1. McCormick was appointed by the State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees during a public session July 16.

Nicole Cohen: SUPER VISION features videos and photo-collages that explore perception as viewed through interior spaces and architectural environments. Opening reception is this Wednesday evening (July 24), 5-7 p.m. at the Zuccaire Gallery, Staller Center, 1st floor. Exhibit runs through October 18. Stony Brook Film Festival Still some great movies to catch in Staller Center's main stage theatre through this Saturday, July 27. Purchase passes and tickets here. (Note that there is a single ticket option, which includes one short film followed by one full-length feature.)
Young Writers Workshops for Teens Student writers explore fiction, poetry, personal narrative and dialogue. By week’s end, students have several pieces of completed work to submit or publish and participate in a reading of their work to be showcased online. July 29 - August 2 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. via Zoom. Offshore Wind Open House and Union Apprenticeship Awareness Day Join NYSERDA in collaboration with SBU's Economic Development, New York State agencies, offshore wind workforce development partners, and Long Island local labor unions to learn about offshore wind development in New York State, including how unions are working on offshore wind and how to pursue opportunities for training and apprenticeships. August 1 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. This is a free event for all ages.  Registration is encouraged but walk-ins are welcome. Learn more.
