March 2019
| |
Dear , As we embark into the month of March, we should pause for a moment to pay respect to all women for their incredible contributions to our society. I believe that people would agree that 2018 leading into 2019 has been a tremendous time of recognition for women in our country. The recent election illustrated this with the historic election of women to Congress. We have all benefited from the courage, knowledge, and support of women that we know personally and also from those who work to make a difference in our communities. In my own life my mother, grandmother, and now my wife and daughters have all impacted who am I am and the work that I do. Each of them has made me a better person. Professionally, I have benefitted from working with women who supervised, advised, and mentored me. This month, be sure to take some time to recognize the women who have made a difference in your lives, including teachers, family members, friends, mentors, supervisors, and the many women who have changed history in both big and small ways. One way to do so is to nominate an outstanding YSU faculty member, staff member, or student for the Women’s Leadership Awards. This award is designed to recognize remarkable women for their contributions to YSU and recognize the positive influence they have within the community. Nominations are due by Friday, March 8, 2019 at 5:00 pm. Nominations should be submitted here.
Our university is celebrating Women’s History Month through a variety of programs both on and off campus throughout the month of March. These events include movie screenings, interactive lectures, and a health fair— just to name a few. Be sure to check the events calendar below for a complete list! Respectfully,

KILCAWLEY CENTER STUDENT STAFF
The approximately 70 KC student staff members play a huge behind the scenes role in preparing the center and welcoming patrons and guests. They are also responsible for opening and closing Kilcawley center. Student staff members book small and large-scale event spaces for over 6,000 events annually, set up spaces, manage AV equipment, and most importantly clean up/tear down between all aforementioned events.
Students are responsible for ordering and stocking new products. They know how to operate cash registers and provide a friendly atmosphere for all who enter Kilcawley Center.
The students even design marketing materials, both for print and social media and play a major role in providing customer service to our end users.
The customer experience is a key part of what we do from retail to recreation. KC student staff are the glue that hold KC together.
