In the fall of 2021, professors and students in Environment & Sustainability, Anthropology, and Biology embarked on a research expedition into the San Juans to investigate the alpine for permafrost, an understudied phenomenon in the Rocky Mountains.

The Academic Success Coach program is proving to be a win-win for students and faculty alike, improving the academic performance of students by providing hands-on knowledge of FLC, peer-to-peer support, and intellectual inspiration.

FLC football coach builds up community   

Johnny Cox (Exercise Science, ‘95), the new head football coach for Fort Lewis College, wishes to create a positive athletic culture for student-athletes to play and learn in. Bringing in a passion for the game and a love for FLC, Cox is ready to take FLC's football program to the next level.

New running coach toes the line

An experienced cross country coach with six conference championships under his belt, Shawn Jakubowski is excited to continue with his passions for running and coaching as the new women's cross country and track & field coach.

That's hawksome

Jenni Trujillo, dean of the School of Education, was recently named to two state commissions focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dean Trujillo was appointed by Governor Polis to the History, Culture, Social Contributions, and Civil Government in Education Commission. She will also serve as the Dean representative for the Colorado Department of Higher Education's Diversifying the Educator Workforce group.
