Professor Kehlmann Hosts Alum Federal Judge at Legal Writing Awards |
|
|
Professor Geoff Kehlmann moderated a discussion with Hon. Michelle Williams Court, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, during the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) Legal Writing Awards, which honor first-year students who demonstrate outstanding writing in their first-year Legal Research & Writing classes.

Professor Farhat Leads Conversation with Former U.S. Attorney General |

Visiting Professor Vince Farhat, a former assistant U.S. attorney and most recently chair of the White Collar Defense & Investigations Group at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP, hosted "A Discussion of the Rule of Law and Judicial Independence with Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales" with the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
Farhat began the interview by asking Gonzales why he voted for Kamala Harris for president in 2024. "I know how powerful the office of the president is. It's important to have someone with integrity in that office," Gonzales said.

Lawyering Skills Faculty Anchor Experiential Learning Fair |
Chris Hawthorne helms the Juvenile Innocence and Fair Sentencing Clinic and Geoff Kehlmann directs the Ninth Circuit Appellate Clinic and the school's moot court programming. Both advised students on experiential training options during the fall Experiential Learning Fair.

Loyola Law School welcomed Professor Rebekah Hanley, Galen Scholar in Legal Writing at the University of Oregon School of Law, for a day of presentations exploring how generative artificial intelligence is reshaping legal writing, teaching, and practice.

Anna Morkos joins Loyola as an associate clinical professor of law teaching Legal Research & Writing and Contract Drafting. She was previously a Fulbright grantee in Colombia, where she taught at the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga.

Jonathan Bremen returns to Loyola as an associate clinical professor of law teaching Legal Research and Writing. He was previously a tenured music professor and department chair of Arts and Humanities at Los Angeles Southwest College.

Professor Yan Slavinskiy joins Rebekah Hanley (University of Oregon) as a new co-author of the 10th edition of Charles Calleros' leading legal writing textbook, "Legal Method and Writing."
This edition has been revised to reach today's generation of law students and addresses generative artificial intelligence, balancing caution with enthusiasm for the ways in which this technology can support skill development. A first-generation college and law-school graduate raised with English as a second language, Professor Slavinskiy brings this perspective to his contributions to the 10th edition.
