Pandemic-EBT: Deadline to Apply is June 30, 2020
Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020, families that qualify for free or reduced price meals at school may be eligible for a new one-time Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) of up to $302 per child (PK-12) to help cover the cost of meals students have eaten at home on days that schools have been closed. The SLPS Food and Nutrition Services Department does not not certify families for P-EBT. For any questions, please contact the Department of Social Services (DSS) directly through the online chat feature at mydss.mo.gov or call 855-373-4636. Proposed 2020-2021 School Year Budget
We want to hear from YOU! Click HERE to review and provide feedback on the 2020-2021 school year budget proposal presented to the Board of Education of the City of St. Louis on June 9, 2020, at its board meeting. The survey closes Monday, June 15, 2020, at 6:30pm, so be sure to review and post your comments by the deadline.
    Summer Learning Program Updates
    The District has added a Session III to its 2020 Summer Learning programming. Families are encouraged to register today at www.slps.org/summer
    WHAT: Evidence-based small-group and guided-reading instruction to develop and strengthen student literacy skills. Teachers will assign students e-books and additional pre-screened digital resources from:
    Instruction is aligned to Missouri Learning Standards. Session III may be taken alone or in addition to Session I or Session II of Summer Learning. Information on all sessions is available at www.slps.org/summer
    WHO: Open to SLPS-enrolled students entering grades PreK-4 through 12
    WHEN: June 15 to July 31, 2020
    HOW: Students who sign up for Session I, Session II and/or Session III of Summer Learning will be able to keep their District-provided devices (iPad and/or hotspot) during the summer, as long as they continue to engage with the lessons.
    Restart School Taskforce Update
    The District has added two project managers to the Restart School Task Force to help keep the work on track, along with subcommittee representatives from four nonprofit community organizations that have a significant presence in our schools.

    • The Little Bit Foundation: Emily Johnson and John Primmell
    • The Gathering: Beth McClure

    GOOD NEWS: Nance, Mason Recognized by Character.org
    Congratulations to the students, staff and families of Nance Elementary and Mason Elementary. Each school has been named a 2020 Promising Practice School by Character.org
    The honor goes schools that creatively help students “understand, care about, and consistently practice the core values that will enable them to flourish in school, in relationships, in the workplace, and as citizens.
    Free Chess Camp, Lessons This Summer
