Quaker Beliefs for Everyone: QLC/ESR Launch New Course
What do Quakers believe? It's much more than the SPICES! The Quaker Leadership Center at the Earlham School of Religion invites all Friends to join a special course on Quaker Beliefs taught by Dr. Steve Angell. Quakerism is not a credal religion, but all varieties of Quakerism are structured around certain doctrines that have roots going back to the religion’s seventeenth century origins. The course will cover 6 theological topics (God & Christ, Human Nature & Holiness, Scripture, Sacraments, Eschatology and the Testimonies, and Worship & Ministry) and will provide Friends an understanding of the deep roots of our current practices. The course is Pay As Led and will run on Zoom Thursdays at 7pm from Oct 2 to Nov 6.

Fall Book Study for BYM Friends Hosted by Stony Run
Join BYM Friends for a group engaging in a book study this fall! Karie Firoozmand of Stony Run Friends Meeting will lead us in a Zoom group open to all members of Baltimore Yearly Meeting in a discussion of The Quaking of America by Resmaa Menakem. This book was recommended to us by Vanessa Julye, the Carey Memorial Lecturer at this summer’s Annual Session. In The Quaking of America, therapist and trauma specialist Resmaa Menakem takes readers through somatic processes addressing the growing threat of white-supremacist political violence. We will gather at 7pm every Wednesday for 4 weeks, October 15-November 5 on Zoom.

| From Dialogue to Action at Woodlawn Meeting, Sep 28
We are living through a painful and dangerous moment in Washington, DC. Our immigrant neighbors face daily threats of detention and deportation, families are being torn apart, and fear is spreading through our communities. In the face of this reality, faith calls us not to turn away, but to stand together. Guided by our spiritual traditions, we respond with prayer, with accompaniment, and with bold action. This is what it means to live a faith-rooted response: to carry one another’s burdens, to demand justice, and to embody hope in the midst of fear.

Organize a Gaza Vigil at Your Meeting During "Peace Days"
Quakers around the country are organizing peace vigils for Gaza between the Int’l Day of Peace (9/21) and the Int’l Day of Non-Violence (10/2). The organizing committee of the ad hoc group, Quakers for Peace in Palestine & Israel (QPPI), invites you and your meeting to join in. Choose a date and time within this range of "Peace Days" (if you can -- later is fine too), and plan your vigil using this Action Packet. Possible activities for your vigil include: a simple meal, music, coloring, poetry, and reading the names of children killed in Gaza and Israel over the last two years. It will be a powerful vigil, all the more so because so many Quakers will be holding this vigil together. Email questions to QPPI at quakersforpeace@gmail.com
