Welcome to the NYU family – we are thrilled to have you with us! Our primary mission is to provide you with valuable insights into the current college student experience, equip you with essential information to support your student’s journey, and foster opportunities for you to engage, connect and contribute as esteemed members of the NYU community. New Student Send Offs

NYU's New Student Send-Offs are a great first opportunity for you and your incoming student to build relationships with other NYU students, alumni, and administrators before traveling to campus. These receptions are held all over the world and allow families and students to get a sense of what awaits them as part of the NYU community. The transition to college impacts everyone, including parents and families. This summer, the Office of the Dean of Students will host a series of webinars specifically tailored for new parents and families. These sessions will connect you with key partners across NYU who will equip you with the foundational information you may need to be a supp

Join us as we embark on the journey of preparing for your student's college experience. Discover helpful tips on packing essentials, learn about transportation options, and gain insights into typical trends when sharing living spaces. Get ready to feel confident and prepared as you embark on this exciting chapter with your student!

Finding Your Home at NYU Part 1

Wednesday, August 6 @ 7:30pm EST

Description: This session will delve into all that NYU Welcome has to offer. Beyond merely acquainting parents with available resources, this session(s) is designed to help you understand the ways we aim to foster belonging so that your student can flourish at NYU. We will discuss ways you can encourage your student to embrace a growth mindset during the initial weeks of classes as they face the inevitable bumps and challenges of their first year. We will also share specific strategies aimed at supporting your student’s journey to find their rightful place within the vibrant NYU community. Join us in empowering your student to thrive and succeed as they embark on their NYU adventure!

You will be notified when registration for the sessions open. All webinars will take place online via Zoom and will be recorded; recordings are typically available 3-4 days after the event.

Your student received a welcome email on May 25, which shared that our student Welcome Leaders have aptly chosen Dare to Dream as the theme for this year’s NYU Welcome - our transition program for incoming students. Beginning this month and continuing through the start of fall semester, your student will hear from both their school and the NYU Welcome Team, who will connect your student to peers, faculty, and staff; highlight timely requirements; and support their transition to the very special day when classes begin. This is one of the many ways your student's transition toward independence begins. As parents and family members, you will occasionally receive a parent version of the messages sent to your student.
