International Acclaim
The University of Tulsa’s Oklahoma Center for the Humanities has received the inaugural Public Humanities Award for Leadership in Practice and Community from the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes. The center was nominated for its Pathways to Freedom program, which helped it transform from a campus-based research organization into an engaged public humanities initiative. The consortium’s Public Humanities Network represents a global community of centers and institutes engaged in building research through partnership.

Recently, father-daughter legal experts Richard and Leah Rothstein visited UTulsa’s College of Law to speak about their new book “Just Action: How to Challenge Segregation Enacted Under the Color of Law,” which addresses how 20th century housing policy intentionally segregated mixed neighborhoods. They also discussed the importance of building relationships across races, addressing the wealth gap, and increasing resources in low-income, predominantly African American areas. The event was co-sponsored by Greenwood Rising history center.

Psyched for Summer
Doctoral student Melody Robinson’s dedication to clinical psychology and interest in research conducted in UTulsa’s Kendall College of Arts & Sciences has opened the door to new and exciting opportunities. Robinson was one of three graduate students selected for the competitive summer research fellowship at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she has been paired with a current VA faculty member to conduct research, is attending trainings and seminars, and will present her findings once the fellowship concludes.
