Called Interim Meeting: Dec 14th at 11am |
Our Yearly Meeting will gather for a Called Interim Meeting on Saturday, Dec 14th at 11:00am online via Zoom to review and consider a revised BYM budget for 2025. After the close of the 2024 camping season and review of the Q1-Q3 financials, it became clear that our projections for camper fees in 2025 were incorrect. Staff and Committees have been hard at work revising the 2025 budget to be more accurate.

The BYM Religious Education Committee is surveying Monthly Meetings to better understand your Meeting's resources and needs. The Committee requests a response from Meeting Religious Education programs by December 1, 2024. Thank you for your participation as our Yearly Meeting works to better serve one another.

| BYM Faith & Practice Seeks Corporate Feedback on "Care of the Earth" Section
|
The BYM Faith and Practice Committee needs your help. The Committee seeks feedback on a new section “Care of the Earth,” which will replace “Humankind and the Environment” (existing Part 1, Section B, 20). The Committee seeks feedback from Monthly Meetings, worship groups, Committees, and other corporate bodies of Friends (not individuals) by March 1, 2025. Faith & Practice is especially eager to hear from younger people.

Calling all Spirit Led, Hands on, Energy workers! Gunpowder Friends Meeting invites you to Save the Date for a Gathering of Healers, March 28-30, 2025. This is envisioned as a time get to know one another, to give and receive work, and to talk about way forward as a cohort of healers in a deeply worshipful setting. | Resources for Meetings: Supporting Ministry
|
Over the last few months, BYM Friend Windy Cooler (Sandy Spring), in partnership with Powell House and the Quaker Leadership Center at Earlham School of Religion, has led a series of workshops on Quaker public ministry. Recordings are available on the topics of Discernment, Accountability, and Eldering. As this project comes to a close, Windy and a advisory board are moving forward with a Public Ministry Incubator Project. Friends can support the new project by making a donation care of Sandy Spring Meeting. To do so, contact mtgcoord@sandyspring.org and stay tuned for more!

Memorial Meeting for Katherine Smith, Sat, Nov 23
|
On Saturday, November 23rd, Maury River Friends Meeting will hold a Memorial Meeting for Worship for Katherine Raiford Smith at their meetinghouse on Waterloo Dr 10 miles west of Lexington VA off W Midland Trail (Rt 850). The Memorial Meeting will begin at 2:00 pm after a brief introduction for those not familiar with Quaker Memorial Meetings. BYM Friends can join at the Zoom link below, which will be activated at 1:45 pm on Sat Nov 23rd.

| FWCC Tapestry Letter Shared Anew by RAWG
|
The Reparations Action Working Group (RAWG) is asking all BYM Friends to read prayerfully, individually and together, the Tapestry & Prayers document from the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) gathering in South Africa in August 2024. Friends from around the world prepared this report – it was written under the care of the 500 Friends. It speaks of the need for Friends to repair harms in our history, and to care for the earth. In this season of generosity and reflection, RAWG encourages Friends to revisit the report and to listen deeply to the ministry shared at the FWCC gathering.
