Computer science major Zachary Gaskins has much to look forward to from his Department of Defense (DOD) Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship. Not only does the award provide full tuition and summer internships, but it will also pay for Gaskins’ graduate studies and guarantee him a career with the DOD once he has completed his education.

Academic All-Stars
The highly selective National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships are among the most sought-after awards for emerging STEM scholars. Recently, five TU students and alumni learned they will receive $12,000 education allowances and three-year $34,000 living stipends. These brilliant scientists look forward to having the financial autonomy they need to pursue their research in plasma physics, materials chemistry, avian biology, biomedical engineering and cognitive science.

For the past 10 months, Professor of Marketing Brian R. Chabowski has been living in Finland as a Fulbright Scholar. Based at the University of Vaasa, he is immersed in Finnish culture and engaged in research on social, environmental and economic sustainability.
