Recent research reported by the Jakarta Post presents a very concerning picture. In 2020, one in three people in South East Asia experienced online fraud, while online fraud made up the second-largest category of cases filed in police reports in 2020. Cybercrime across the region is increasing rapidly, and regulators are struggling to keep up with the pace of technological change.
There has never been a more important time to make clear the advantages of cash. Unlike all other payment methods, it offers the safest, most reliable, and accessible method of payment. Through working with manufacturers to develop the NextGen ATM, ATMIA is working hard to secure the future of the industry.
