May 27, 2021
Dear Colleagues:
I write to share our plans to hold in-person Commencement ceremonies for all Summer 2021 graduates on Saturday, July 24, in Worthen Arena.
We must plan for these ceremonies in accordance with current state and local COVID-19 mitigation guidelines. As a result, we will share additional details about the time and number of ceremonies taking place that day after the registration deadline for graduates closes on Monday, June 28.
For now, I ask that all graduating students please complete the following steps:
- Apply to Graduate: Every student must apply to graduate, even if they do not plan to attend a Commencement ceremony. For graduate students, the application deadline is Tuesday, June 1. For undergraduate students, the application deadline is Monday, June 28.
- Register for Commencement: Graduating students must complete the Commencement registration form before Monday, June 28, to let us know their plan to attend Commencement on July 24.
- Order Your Cap and Gown: Graduating students must order their caps and gowns by Friday, June 25, if they want them shipped to their homes. These items are also available for purchase at the Ball State Bookstore in the Art and Journalism Building.
Each graduate who registers for Summer Commencement will receive four complimentary guest tickets. All graduates and attendees will be required to wear masks, since these Commencement ceremonies will be taking place indoors.
Based on the success of our May Commencement ceremonies for our Spring 2021 and 2020 graduates, I am confident that we can provide the same in-person experience for our Summer 2021 graduates. I look forward to celebrating their achievements with them in July, and I hope you do as well.
