ICPSR Data Communication Scholarship Workshop
|
Join the Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research and Data Services on Tuesday, November 4 from 4–5pm through Zoom to discuss the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Data Communication Scholarship.
This Scholarship, open to current graduate students and recent graduates, offers a $1,000 first-place prize to students who can creatively and clearly communicate insights from a dataset in the ICPSR repository.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to search ICPSR to identify a dataset of interest and develop a short, engaging video that effectively showcases its value—essentially creating a “commercial” for the data. We’ll cover strategies for crafting a strong narrative, tips for video creation, and guidance for submitting a competitive application. Whether you’re new to data or video tools, this session will give you the confidence and resources to get started.

Critical Language Scholarship |
|
|
The CLS Program partners with universities and nonprofits around the globe to provide cohorts of U.S. students an opportunity to study the language and culture in a country/location where the target language is commonly spoken. CLS scholars are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship and apply their critical language skills in their future careers.
The U.S. Department of State sponsors and oversees the CLS Program, including CLS Spark, as part of a larger U.S. government effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering foreign languages that are critical to our national security, economic prosperity, and engagement with the world. CLS provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the entire United States at every level of language learning.
Application Deadline: November 18, 2025
