Warm Holiday Wishes From Research Compliance 🎄 |
As we wrap up 2025, the Division of Research Compliance extends our heartfelt wishes for a joyful holiday season and a successful start to 2026!
Please note: IRB, IACUC, and IBC will pause operations at noon on December 15, 2025. Applications submitted after this time will be reviewed once committees return from break.
For those preparing grant proposals, please ensure you have completed the Research Security Training (Combined) on CITI. Many sponsors require annual completion at least 12 months before submission, and completing it early helps prevent processing delays through ORSP.
If you plan to travel internationally on SHSU business, please also confirm your Export Compliance CITI training is current.
You can find guidance and resources on the Research Compliance webpage:
Happy Holidays and best wishes for a successful start to 2026!

Scholarship Reminders
As we prepare for the Spring 2026 semester, many students will soon receive scholarships funded through grants. If you plan to award scholarships using your grant funds, please notify your Grant Accountant before submitting anything to Financial Aid.
Although some awards are routed through Scholarship4Kats, others are issued directly by the Financial Aid Office. Regardless of the pathway, ORA must be looped in. This helps us:
• Confirm the scholarship is allowable under the grant
• verify funds are available to support the award
• Maintain proper documentation for audit and reconciliation
Thank you for working with us to ensure these awards are processed smoothly and compliantly!
Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAF)
A friendly reminder that an EPAF must be submitted anytime faculty, staff, or students stop working on a grant, for any reason. Please select the appropriate action (e.g., “End Job Assignment,” “Terminated”) and ensure Kathy Allen is included in the approval queue.
This requirement also applies when the grant itself has ended. Submitting the EPAF promptly prevents payroll charges from continuing incorrectly and helps avoid time-consuming corrections later. While our Grant Accountants do their best to remind project teams, they may not always know when personnel leave a project, so we rely on you to keep us updated.
For help or questions, please contact ORA@shsu.edu.
