Guidance on Returning to Face-to-Face EventsWe have partnered with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) to produce a guide to returning to face-to-face practice, events, and competition. We believe it is essential to the physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being of K-12 students across the nation that students return to face-to-face speech and debate activities as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. This guide provides mitigation strategies for face-to-face competition based on a scientific study to determine how COVID-19 may spread in the course of speaking activities, discusses implications for program budgets and recruitment, and offers considerations for online instruction and competition where applicable.

Celebrate Supporters with an Honorary NSDA Membership
Did you know you can nominate an adult who has contributed to your team to be an honorary National Speech & Debate Association member? This is a great way to generate buy-in from administrators or honor a parent who helps your team! Honorary members must be adults who have contributed in some significant way to the speech and debate program of the local chapter, but have not earned Association membership as a student or instructor.

Financial Support: Apply on Behalf of Your Team We've pledged to give $100,000 in financial assistance to teams and students to create a more equitable experience at the 2021 National Tournament. If your team needs to purchase technology, pay for internet access, rent appropriate competition space, or acquire other resources that will allow students to compete online, apply for the William Woods Tate, Jr., Memorial Fund.
We've put together a three question Competitor Resource Assessment you can use independently to evaluate potential challenges your students have and ways that the Tate fund may be able to support them. We will award the first round of grants around May 1, so please apply early as we anticipate funding will go quickly.
