Tucson recently ranked #1 as the best city for pet owners in this Forbes article. Tucson ranks as one of the best cities for access to veterinary care. Dog and cat owners pay some of the lowest medical fees in the US including spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and office visits.

A Dog Friendly Downtown

Take a stroll downtown with your dog and visit one of the many dog friendly outdoor patios. Be sure to stop by Borderlands on Waggin' Wednesdays and enjoy 1/2 off your first beer when you bring your pup. Bring your own bowl for some dog-friendly Woof Beer!

New Businesses Coming to Congress and Church

Local entrepreneur Brandt Hazen has acquired all the restaurant properties west of The Fox Theatre on the north side of Congress. Hazen will partner with Mat Snapp, a member of Barter & Shake cocktail entertainment company, to add a street-level coffee shop, and to launch two entertainment/cocktail venues in the now unused basement. One bar venue will mimic a moving Pullman train dining car, Platform 18, and the other an adjacent New Orleans apothecary shop, Grey Hen. The remodel includes residential lofts on the second story and improvements to the facade and existing ground-level patios. Current tenants of the property including Street Taco, JA Ramen, Perche' No, and Subway will remain. With over $9 million of private sector dollars budgeted, Rio Nuevo committed $1.5 million as incentives to accelerate the development.

City Hosting Armory Park Block Party

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department invites you to Armory Park on Saturday, May 20, from 9-11 a.m. for games, chalk art, music, free snow cones and popcorn! Come have some fun and find out about future projects at the park.

Festivities will include regional food vendors, chef demonstrations, live music and entertainment, educational panels, art installations, and so much more celebrating the rich traditions of maíz.
