Digital Literacy Camp Success!
After All, our afterschool and summer program for teens, hosted a digital literacy camp this past month. Dr. Mary Jo Krile, a professor from Eastern Kentucky University, worked with the teens on digital skills. With an emphasis on learning to use technology effectively and safely, the teens had a lot of fun and became fans of Dr. Krile. This project was partially funded through a SpArc Tank Innovations grant from The Arc Maryland.

Big Train Community Hero

On a warm summer evening, The Arc Montgomery County was honored at the Bethesda Big Train baseball game. As a Big Train Community Hero, we shared our message of inclusion with those in attendance and threw out the first pitch, a perfect strike! Located in Cabin John Park, Big Train Baseball is a summer league for college baseball players. Thanks to everyone who came out to cheer for the home team and supported The Arc.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Arc and LIDS Raising Awareness

During August, the Lids retail store will partner with The Arc to help raise awareness of its mission. Support your team and help the cause by rounding up your in-store purchase of Lids merchandise and a portion of each transaction will go to The Arc. You can also have The Arc logo embroidered on the side for a small fee. There are several Lids stores in Montgomery County to make your purchase. Snap a picture with your Lids gear and send it to The Arc to be eligible to win a prize.

Summer Trail Trekkers

Walk and connect with Trail Trekkers–an organized, inclusive walking club sponsored by Montgomery Parks. This free program is designed for people with disabilities and their friends, family, and community members. Explore accessible trails at various county parks.

Adaptive Mountain Cycling

Experience the thrill of mountain biking with a new Montgomery Parks adaptive program designed for people with disabilities. This program is a partnership with Mid Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts, Lancaster Recumbent, and Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park. You must be 16 or older and registration is required.
