Dear Neighbors,
The work to protect and support our immigrant, refugee, and Muslim neighbors continues. I wanted to ensure you got a personal invitation from me to join us for next week's Intergovernmental Relations Committee meeting where we will receive a significant presentation from State Representative Ilhan Omar, NAVIGATE, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, the ACLU of Minnesota, and the Advocates for Human Rights. As Vice Chair of this committee, I have been listening to you and hearing how important this effort is for our communities. I am pleased to be working with Chair Glidden to host this important effort.
The goal of this comittee presentation is to better understand the implications of the President's executive orders on immigration on our City governance, we will hear specifically from our City Attorney Susan Segal on this issue. We will then hear from legal experts and impacted community members on the types of solutions our City can pursue to become a true Sanctuary city for our families, neigbors and residents.
Please join us in person for this vital conversation or tune in via the City's website to watch the committee meeting live.
