Nashville, Tenn. (September 12, 2016) – 23-year-old singer-songwriter Morgan Wallen hits Country radio today (9/12) with his debut, “The Way I Talk,” one of the most added singles nationwide. As the second artist signed to headline-grabbing new label Big Loud Records and managed by Working Group Artist Management, Wallen is already making waves in the genre thanks to his dynamic vocal presence and a sound straight out of the modern South. “The Way I Talk” has logged nearly 2 million plays on Spotify following the release of Wallen’s debut EP this summer.
"After many weeks of radio promo tour and meeting tons of great people, the day we get to bring my debut song to Country radio is here," says Wallen. "I am so blessed and honored to even be given the chance to be on the same dial as the legends then and now. If I named all the people who were a part of this, y'all would be mad at me because it would take so long! So thank you, to everyone (you know who you are). This honestly doesn't even feel real. I hope you all believe in my music as much as we do!"
When Wallen’s five-song EP The Way I Talk
July 29, the steel-driven anthem “The Way I Talk” was instantly included on Spotify’s popular Wild Country, New Boots and New Music Friday playlists.
Born about three hours from Nashville in Sneedville, Tenn. (also home to bluegrass legend Jimmy Martin), Wallen was a star on the baseball diamond, attended the same high school as country superstar Kenny Chesney, and has deep roots in the church. With a hard-rock loving preacher for a father and a mother who couldn’t get enough country and contemporary Christian music, Wallen began performing for his local congregation at the tender age of 3 and went on to develop a strong love of country, rock and hip-hop.
After moving to Music City in 2015, he’s spent the last year developing his writing skills with hitmakers like Craig Wiseman (“Live Like You Were Dying”), Rodney Clawson (“Dirt”), Chris Tompkins (“Drunk on a Plane”), the Warren Brothers (“Highway Don’t Care”), Tommy Cecil (“Home Alone Tonight”) and Matt Dragstrem (“Sippin’ on Fire”), and has been honing his studio poise with award-winning producer Joey Moi.
Wallen joins breakthrough star Chris Lane on Big Loud Records’ promising roster, the high-flying voice who took the label’s first-ever single, “Fix,” to #1 at Country radio. With the addition of Wallen, that unprecedented success is sure to continue.
