When times are tough, it's reassuring to know that there are people you can always depend on—whether it's your family, friends, or longtime supporters.
Bruce and Eileen Drake have been involved with DLSNC since its early days. Eileen served on the Board of Trustees for six years and supported Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) students when she worked at PCC Structurals.
Bruce and Eileen said, "DLSNC is the only school in Portland to combine a college-prep education with professional-level work experience in a way that provides real value for both the students and the participating businesses."
In CWSP, "students, faculty, staff, and worksite professionals support and stretch each other with dedication and cooperation to reach their goals." While students are currently attending virtual classes, turning in assignments online, and some even continuing to work remotely for their CWSP jobs, there is a lot of support, dedication, cooperation, and stretching happening. This network of support is keeping us all going.
In this time of uncertainty, Bruce and Eileen see our new building project as "representing a sense of progress and commitment to the school, offering more certainty and stability for the future."
When Bruce and Eileen thought about how they wanted to mark their 50th wedding anniversary, they decided that a $50,000 gift to the campaign would be the best way to celebrate. They said, "Why would you not want to support DLSNC and help secure its future? For us, it was not a matter of whether we would contribute, but just at what level we could contribute."
Gifts of $50, $500, and $50,000 have all added to the success of our campaign and the future of DLSNC.
Thank you for offering certainty and stability for our students.
Blessings,
Oscar Leong
