Retirees Association Tour of Pacific Pickle Works, Thursday, June 4,
from 2 to 3:30 pm
718 Union Avenue
|
|
|
|
Retirees - Join us for an exclusive tour of Pacific Pickle Works!
The UCSB Retirees Association and Principal Pickle & Founder, Brad Bennett, will host this immersive experience, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the mechanics and art of crafting small-batch pickles, pickled vegetables, condiments and more.
Our tour will be at the factory in the Eastside industrial area of Santa Barbara where we will learn about the:
|
- history of Pacific Pickle Works
-
techniques used to produce these tasty pickles
- unique qualities that set small-batch varieties apart from mass-produced brands
|
AND we will also have a chance to taste a variety of products and to create our very own dill-icious jar of pickles.
Whether you’re a pickle aficionado or new to the world of brining, join us for this tour by registering with Kim Summerfield, by Friday, May 29.
Cost is $10 cash or Venmo.
The location is 718 Union Ave. Parking is in very short supply so please let Kim know if you can drive or would need a ride.

Since we no longer charge annual dues for membership, we depend on your donations to continue to offer a range of programs, including webinars, social events, bike rides, guided nature walks, critical Promise Scholar support, and an oral history project that documents emeriti achievements and campus history.

Attacks against UC retirees: Staying safe in a digital world
|
Following up on recent attempts to defraud UC retirees, UCNet has created a new webpage delineating what the University of California is doing to protect you and what steps you can take to keep yourself and your data safe.

(Association of Retirement Organizations

The Charting The Journey to a Fulfilling Retirement webinar series offers a valuable opportunity to do just that. This national series frames retirement as a period of reinvention rather than withdrawal, and introduces fresh perspectives on purpose, identity, health, cognitive vitality, and engagement beyond full-time academic work. Instead of focusing narrowly on logistics or financial planning, it encourages faculty to think more broadly about what comes next—and invites institutions to think more intentionally about later-career pathways.
