Volunteers Give Boston Marathon Route a Clean Sweep!

Over the past two weeks, nearly 200 volunteers participated in the second annual Litter-Free to the Finish Boston Marathon cleanup. Volunteers cleaned along the marathon route in Hopkington, Ashland, Framingham and Natick:

  • 90 volunteers from Dell Technologies filled 104 bags of trash from the Hopkinton starting line all the way into Ashland on April 9
  • 95 volunteers from Keep Framingham Beautiful and Keep Natick Beautiful braved raw cold and rain and filled 155 bags of trash along Route 135 on April 13
This cleanup helps the Greater Boston area put its best foot forward as thousands of runners and spectators visit our region to enjoy the Boston Marathon. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers who participated in this event!

Hamster wheel
Education can help break the cycle!

New Portal Provides Resources for Educators and Students

When it comes to solving the litter problem in Massachusetts, sometimes it can feel like we’re all on a giant hamster wheel of endless cleanups. So how do we break the cycle? Education and behavior change!

We have launched a new webpage we’re calling the Massachusetts Environmental Education Portal. It will grow into a larger library of curated content and lessons targeting students K-12. If you have relevant content (guides, lessons, videos) related to litter prevention & cleanup, waste reduction & recycling and community beautification, please feel free to send it our way.
