High School Senior's Project Provides Comfort at Coborn Healing Center |
Recently, Jamie F., with her mom and grandmother's assistance, delivered tie blankets for patients and clients at the Coborn Healing Center and the Central Minnesota Child Advocacy Center. Deb Paul from CentraCare Foundation was on hand to give Jamie some help as she made her gift.
Jamie explains the idea to make blankets came about as she contemplated what she could do for others through a senior project in school. "I thought donating blankets through CentraCare Foundation was a great opportunity. I started fundraising and had almost $1,000 to spend on fleece. I coordinated friends and neighbors and about 20 people made 64 tie blankets to donate to the Healing Center and CAC."
Jamie's mother and grandmother supported her work. "I mostly helped her with finding good prices on fabric," Jamie's mom says. "And with advertising the donation site so that we could make enough money to purchase the fleece."
Jamie's grandma said she helped cut the fabric and got things prepped before the tying event. She says she is so touched by Jamie's big heart. "I'm so proud of her. She's just the sweetest person. And I'm so glad that she's so willing to give back."
CentraCare Foundation is glad too! Thank you, Jamie, for thinking of so many who need a little softness and warmth during challenging times!
