| Partnering to support your student’s success
MARCH 2025
|
|
|
Dear Denison Families,
Spring on The Hill is a season rich with both academic growth and campus celebrations. Last month, we celebrated our annual tradition of honoring seniors who have lived with the same roommate for three years or more at the Roommate Dinner. Check out the full photo album online!
In the middle of midterm season, students are eagerly anticipating the arrival of spring break at the end of next week. If you’ll be spending time with your student during break, we encourage you to check in with them about their semester, ask how it’s going, and nudge them to share what they’re excited about after spring break.
Spring break is also a good moment to ask your student how they intend to spend their summer — the Knowlton Center provides some great tips for having that conversation, which we’ve included later on in this newsletter.
As always, thank you for all that you do to support your student’s success. We appreciate your partnership.
Warm wishes,
Julie Tucker ’09
Director of Student, Young Alumni and Family Engagement

Now is a great time to check in with your student on their career choices in general as well as their plans for summer 2025.
|
-
What careers are you currently considering and what interests you about them?
- When do you next plan on engaging with the Knowlton Center? What upcoming programs or opportunities do you want to participate in?
- How are you planning on spending this summer? An internship, summer job, or summer research?
- How comfortable are you with your resume and cover letter? How might you increase your confidence and sharpen your interviewing skills?
- Some internships might expect some familiarity with AI. How are you building skills and knowledge around AI? Are you taking advantage of Denison offerings?

|
Later this month and into early April, your student will participate in course registration for the fall semester. As they prepare, they will work directly with their academic advisor to:
|
-
Make decisions about what classes to take for fall 2025.
- Ensure they are on track with their graduation requirements.
- Obtain a PIN number from their advisor in order to register.
- Check in on their academic, career, and personal progress.

Please encourage your student to reach out to their advisor after spring break to make an appointment in advance of registration.

Opportunity to Engage: Arts ReMix |
Your last chance to encourage your student to attend! |
Open to all students, Arts ReMix starts this week and provides the opportunity for students to build connections and gain insight into careers within the arts. Students will meet alums who are heads of theatre, filmmakers, museum curators, artists, and authors. Below are some highlights you can share with your student:
|
- A conversation with legendary actress, singer, and EGOT winner Rita Moreno, on March 6.
- A fireside chat with Audible CEO and Denison parent Bob Carrigan on March 8.
- 1:1 coaching available from alums in a wide variety of professions.
- Breakout sessions from alumni experts on topics like “The Creative Edge: Using Artistic Skills to Excel in Any Career” and “Where Art Meets Commerce.”

A Word From the Knowlton Center
|
The Knowlton Center for Career Exploration hosted the Big Red Career Expo in February. Almost 300 students and over 40 employers attended, highlighting career opportunities across healthcare, the arts, and more.
Don’t worry — even if your student didn’t make it to the expo, there are still plenty of ways they can engage with the Knowlton Center this spring. We encourage your student to utilize these resources and opportunities:
|
Personalized Career Coaching
|
Students work one-on-one with a career coach who can help navigate the career exploration and planning process.
|
Searching for Internships |
Tapping into the power of Denison’s network of over 30,000 alums, students can ask a question, which is then answered by an alum with experience relevant to their ask. This often leads to in-person, Zoom, or phone conversations. Explore Ask a Denisonian.

Skill-Building Experiences |
A variety of skill-building experiences are available for students this spring at Denison Edge. View program offerings.
