Citizen Science Thursdays!

Join us Thursday, March 3rd at 6:30PM  as we celebrate and learn from the amazing scientists who work and live in our area.
Dr. Diane Stanitski, Physical Scientist and Deputy Director of the NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory, will share with us some of the highlights of her work. 

She will also provide information on a variety of citizen science projects in our area.
This program is great for all ages and will have lots of time for Q & A. Register here!  (Zoom and in-person option available).  

Nederland Library Winter Olympics!

Saturday, March 12, 1-4PM
Drop in any time between 1 and 4! (Activities take about 30 minutes.)
Pre-K to 5th grade
Make a flag, collect your passport, complete fun library "olympic" activities. 
Win a medal -1st place medals will be awarded to every participant who completes all the games and your names will be in the newspaper!
International refreshments!  Bonus prize for greeting "judges" in a language other than English!

Cookbook Club Reboot!

Thursday, March 24, 6-8PM.  
Join us for a Hawaiian-themed, mystery evening with author Debra Bokur and Librarian foodie Kendra Trauth.

Celebrating Douglas Adams!

Thursday, March 10, 6PM.  Let's booktalk Douglas Adams and eat cake for a posthumous birthday celebration (on what would have been his 70th birthday.)
Adams was the author of the celebrated Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, as well as the Dirk Gently books and Last Chance to See, his non-fiction book about endangered species.
He also wrote two books of Liffs. What is a Liff? Those participating in this event will have a chance to find out and write a few Liffs of their own.  Register here (In-person and Zoom options).

Circling Mystery:

aging, dying and beyond

A three-session workshop, the first three Sundays in March, facilitated by Rebekah Shardy, author, speaker and Hospice Care trainer. 
These sessions will range from discussion on "wild and soulful" aging to comfort care best practices. Most importantly, this will be a safe space to explore our hopes and fears around death and dying, and the process of caring for a loved one who is in the process of dying.  Read here for more information.  

Manga Time!


Watch anime trailers, choose movies, munch on Japanese snacks, help give directios with the library's Manga purchases,  and try your hand at Manga illustration!
NCL Manga + Anime Club is for teens who love Manga or want to learn more! (6th grade and up, please.)
