A Message From Extension Waukesha County |
Thank you for your participation in the Extension Waukesha County 4-H program for the 2023-2024 year. We are looking forward to the 2024-2025 4-H year. We have a great group of youth leaders and adult volunteers that are committed to providing quality educational experiences. This year, the newsletter and updates will be sent monthly. In the newsletter, we will share important 4-H county and state updates, information on programs, upcoming events, registration information and much more. If your club has information, opportunities or pictures to share with 4-H families please email us the complete information and we will include it in the newsletter. Here are a few quick updates and reminders for clubs, groups and families. We are looking forward to a great year and connecting with you all. Let’s keep on learning by doing and making the best better!

Waukesha County 4-H Enrollment Opens September 1, 2024 |
|
|
All current and new youth members must enroll or re-enroll in 4-H online in order to be a 4-H member. Before participating in the 4-H program you must be enrolled and approved on 4-H online.
To become an approved Extension Waukesha County 4-H member (youth member), you must enroll in 4-H Online, and pay the county enrollment fee. To complete your children’s enrollment:
Step 1: Enroll using 4-H Online here: https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in
Step 2: Pay your County Enrollment Fee here: https://www.waukeshacounty.gov /UWEX/4H/Join/
Returning members should complete enrollment before December 1st, 2024.

All members and volunteers who participate in Extension Waukesha County 4-H must complete their volunteer training annually, if required. All current and new volunteers must enroll or re-enroll in 4-H online in order to be a 4-H member.
The Wisconsin 4-H policy indicates “All 4-H programs and activities must be supervised by a staff member or an approved 4-H volunteer, 18 years of age or older, who has completed all the following steps:
Step 1: Enroll on 4-H Online including agreeing to the Division of Extension Volunteer Behavior Expectations.
Step 2: Complete Criminal Background Check* (information will be sent via email to all new potential volunteers once a person has enrolled)
Step 3: Complete Volunteer Training Modules:

Supporting You, Supporting Youth Training
Supporting Youth Mental Health
Note: Any adult that wants to work directly with 4-H youth members, clubs or groups in any capacity, will need to enroll in 4-H Online as a Volunteer and complete all volunteer trainings beforehand. Enrollment and training are not required for a one time guest speaker.
Returning volunteers should register on 4-H Online and complete volunteer trainings before December 1st, 2024.

The Muckey Cloggers Are Back! |
The 4-H Muckey Cloggers are back after a 2 year hiatus! The clogging year will begin in September and they are looking for new members to grow this group! They will be meeting on WEDNESDAY nights from 6:30 to 8:30 at 20710 Chadwick Ln, Brookfield, WI 53045. No previous dance experience necessary. Accepting ages 8 to adult. All clubs and groups should attend. This is a great opportunity to recruit and share all of the great opportunities offered by our 4-H clubs and projects.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the Waukesha County 4-H leadership team through a committee! Be part of positive changes and help run a great 4-H organization. Encourage your youth and parents in your clubs to sign up- please try to have at least 1 person from your club on each committee! Important Reminders For 4-H Club and Group Leaders |
Record Books, Record Books, Don't Forget Your Record Books! |
Club members, if you have not already done so, please make sure you are taking time to complete your records books for the 2023-2024 program year. All books are due to the county office by August 30th. Keep an eye out for updates on member evaluation dates. Exact dates are TBD, but are expected to be scheduled sometime in October of November.
Why is it important to keep a record book of your 4-H Activities?
4-H Record books are books you make to record your annual projects. By recording your activities you can remember all the fun you’ve had so far, and set future goals! Keeping records of 4-H projects could help you when you apply for college scholarships too!

Annual Financial Reports (AFR) |
Club and Group Annual Financial Reports are due to the office by September 1, 2024. All clubs and groups with a checking or savings account must submit the required documents annually. Annual Club Charters are due to the office by November 1, 2024. All 4-H Clubs and Groups must be chartered and report directly to the 4-H Program Educator. 4-H Charters are renewed annually and will be granted upon successful completion of the Wisconsin 4-H Charter Application. Extension Waukesha County Office Updates |

Our title is Extension Waukesha County 4-H. Our correct title should be used when referring to our office. This includes invoices, and flyers etc.
- If you plan to stop in the office for anything, please notify the office of the day and time for when you will be stopping by the office so we can make sure someone is available to assist you.

If you have any requests for assistance or questions regarding 4-H, please send inquiries to James. Provide us a minimum of 2-3 days with any requests such as rosters, flyers, and emails to be sent.

This year's Waukesha County 4-H summer camp was a tropical blast! Thank you to the amazing volunteers and camp counselors for ensuring that all campers had a safe and enjoyable time. Campers this summer got to participate in a variety of activities including tropical themed yard games and crafts, swimming, bat education, and even a high ropes challenge course!
We would like to extend a big thank you to our 4-H Summer Camp sponsors Eaton, Novonesis and Waukesha State Bank. Thank you!

A huge thank you to our youth volunteers and community partners for assisting in the success of this year's 4-H Kids Zone at the Waukesha County Fair! Over 1,000 fair guests stopped in to the Kids Zone and were introduced to 4-H! Along with a variety of crafts and activities offered by the Extension Waukesha County office, we had 10 local partners come and host tables providing information about their organization and more hands-on experiences!
We would also like to extend a big thank you to our 2024 Kid Zone sponsor's Woodman's and Blain's Farm and Fleet. Thank you!

Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Creation Contest: The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation has teamed up again to present the “Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Creation Contest” for Wisconsin 4-H clubs. All Wisconsin 4-H clubs are eligible to submit their idea for a new ice cream flavor, along with a flavor description and interesting flavor name. Entries are accepted September 1, 2024, through November 15, 2024. Five finalists are selected by a panel of Cedar Crest Ice Cream flavor experts from all entries received. One flavor is awarded top honors and a $500 gift. The winning flavor makes its debut in parlors in the summer of 2025. All five finalists receive an ice cream party for their 4-H club. 2025 Advanced Space Academy: Wisconsin 4-H is excited to announce details for the 2025 Advanced Space Academy! Advanced Space Academy will take place from February 15-22, 2025, and youth will travel to Huntsville, AL and get the opportunity to train like an astronaut, learn team building skills at the Space Camp Challenge Course, participate in SCUBA diving at the underwater astronaut trainer, and learn a ton more about Space and STEM! You can see additional program details on Space Camp’s website. Registration is open to youth in grades 10-12 for the 24-25 4-H year, and the cost is $2,700/per person. Registration will be open in 4-H Online from September 4-30, 2024. We hope to see you when we blast off in February!

The National 4-H Dairy Youth Conference is the Place to be this Year: The National 4-H Dairy Youth Conference is September 29 - October 2, 2024 in Madison, WI. The conference is for students ages 15-18 years old (as of January 1, 2024), who are eager to learn more about the dairy industry. Students will have the chance to go on different farm tours, and other industry-focused tours, listen in on different speakers, and be able to attend World Dairy Expo.
