Check out what's new, Coach!

It's peak district tournament season! Remember to make sure your students are eligible and ready to compete. Students must be NSDA members with a Degree of Merit (at least 25 points in the Honor Society) and have an email address attached to their account. Students who are currently eligible will have a check mark in that column on your team roster. Learn more about districts »
Stay tuned for important details about the National Tournament this week!

Recognize Students with Honor Cords
NSDA students are eligible to wear honor cords at graduation and induction ceremonies. Honor cords demonstrate membership in our Honor Society and, for many, the opportunity to wear them is an enticing part of membership.
School policies vary—check with your admin about whether your students can wear honor cords, and share our letter to help make the case.

New Course: Intro to Framework
Our new self-paced NSDA Learn course introduces students or coaches to framework in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. This free course was developed by LD experts Nick Smith, head debate coach at Apple Valley High School in Minnesota, and Lawrence Zhou, 2014 national champion. Upon completion of the course, members will be able to:
- Explain the proper function of the value and criterion
- Identify and explain common frameworks and the philosophy behind them
- Craft a justified framework on a variety of topics and leverage it in round
- Respond to a variety of frameworks
Learn more about framework yourself, share the course with assistant coaches, or instruct students to take it independently using the included comprehension checks as homework. It is worth three credit hours, and participants will be presented with a certificate verifying their participation upon completion of the course to meet professional development requirements.
