Check out what's new, Coach!
It's peak district tournament season! Remember to make sure your students are eligible and ready to compete. Students must be NSDA members with a Degree of Merit (at least 25 points in the Honor Society) and have an email address attached to their account. Students who are currently eligible will have a check mark in that column on your team roster. Learn more about districts »
Stay tuned for important details about the National Tournament this week!
Recognize Students with Honor Cords
NSDA students are eligible to wear honor cords at graduation and induction ceremonies. Honor cords demonstrate membership in our Honor Society and, for many, the opportunity to wear them is an enticing part of membership.
School policies vary—check with your admin about whether your students can wear honor cords, and share our letter to help make the case.
Try the New Tabroom.com Forum
We recently launched a new Tabroom.com Forum where users can exchange ideas and ask questions of NSDA staff and Tabroom.com super-users. The Forum is a medium by which people can support each other, share best practices, and maximize the usage of Tabroom.com’s software. Forum users can browse and share contributions to different categories of topics, including New Feature Alerts, Tournament General Management, and Roster Management. There are even specific categories for questions about tabbing speech, debate and Congress! To join the discussion, visit support.tabroom.com.
Register for Upcoming Coaches' Caucuses
Mark your calendar—several coaches' caucuses are meeting in March! Caucuses are a great opportunity to network with other coaches and join in important discussion and dialogue about the successes, needs, and challenges of communities. Please remember that participants should abide by the NSDA harassment and discrimination policy at all times.
Celebrate Women's History Month
March is Women's History Month! Use our poster series featuring alumni and coaches to celebrate at your school, or use our template to design posters featuring current or former members of your team!

New Course: Intro to Framework
Our new self-paced NSDA Learn course introduces students or coaches to framework in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. This free course was developed by LD experts Nick Smith, head debate coach at Apple Valley High School in Minnesota, and Lawrence Zhou, 2014 national champion. Upon completion of the course, members will be able to:
- Explain the proper function of the value and criterion
- Identify and explain common frameworks and the philosophy behind them
- Craft a justified framework on a variety of topics and leverage it in round
- Respond to a variety of frameworks
Learn more about framework yourself, share the course with assistant coaches, or instruct students to take it independently using the included comprehension checks as homework. It is worth three credit hours, and participants will be presented with a certificate verifying their participation upon completion of the course to meet professional development requirements.
