Keep It True, Disclose What You DoAre you a full-time employee who participates in a job, consulting work, or entrepreneurial venture outside of the College? Do you participate in an outside activity that may overlap with or require your attention during your scheduled work hours at the College?
Conflicts of interest arise when your personal interests could interfere, or appear to interfere, with your judgement in carrying out your College responsibilities. Therefore, if you are a full-time or temporary employee, and you answer yes to one of these questions, you need to disclose it by completing a Conflicts of Interest Disclosure Form. The College would evaluate and—where a conflict is indeed present—manage the circumstances. Remember, most conflicts can be managed.
For questions or additional information, please contact the Office of Compliance, Risk, and Ethics.

CJIS Background Screening for Faculty Teaching in MCPS Partnership ProgramsIf you plan to work or teach in the Early College, Middle College, or Dual Enrollment Programs, be sure to begin the youth protection compliance process as early as possible, and keep these essential reminders in mind.
1. Faculty teaching courses in these programs must complete CJIS background screening, which includes visiting an off-site vendor to be fingerprinted. This applies to in-person and online classes. This must be completed prior to engaging with minors, so it’s best to contact HRSTM (for new hires) or the Youth Protection Coordinator Debbie Bouyer (for current employees) to initiate the screening process as soon as possible.
2. Faculty teaching in these programs must also complete the online course “Protecting Youth Abuse, Neglect, and Prevention,” accessible through Workday.
Remember that if you don’t comply with these two requirements, you will not be able to teach the class unless you have a CJIS-cleared faculty member with you in the classroom. Please reach out to the Office of Compliance, Risk, and Ethics if you need additional information.

Title IX New RegulationsOn April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education (the Department) published new Title IX regulations that were set to go into effect on August 1, 2024 (the 2024 Title IX regulations). However, following multiple legal challenges, the 2024 Title IX regulations are currently on hold in over twenty states and for hundreds of K-12 schools and postsecondary institutions, including Montgomery College.
Until further guidance is provided by the Department or the court system, the College will continue to use its current policies and procedures, which are compliant with the Title IX regulations issued in 2020. College staff worked diligently to prepare updates to policy and procedures to ensure compliance with the 2024 Title IX regulations, and we are ready to implement these new policies and procedures should the current injunction be lifted.
We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide additional updates when there are any significant changes. Please be assured that, during this unusual period of uncertainty, Montgomery College remains committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment and will continue to respond promptly and equitably to reports of sex discrimination and sex-based harassment under existing policies and procedures.
Questions about Title IX compliance can be directed to the College’s Title IX Coordinator, Kristen Roe, at (240) 567-4279.
