Do you remember any dreams from last night? We all have recurring dreams. What do they mean? In one memorable dream I was a pilot behind enemy lines. My job if I chose to accept it (and I did) was to sneak in, borrow a plane from an airport and fly it on a mission. Those dreams are exhilarating because I succeeded and flew the plane to finish the task.
The king of Egypt had put his baker and cupbearer in prison. Each of them had a dream the same night. Joseph saw they were sad and asked them why. They told him they had no one to interpret their dreams. Joseph who had experience with dreams himself (37:3, 9), asked a good question, “Do not interpretations belong to God?” Then he invited them to tell him their dreams.
Even in prison, especially in prison, God had Joseph in the right place at the right time. The king’s servants had ended up in a prison with a man of God. Joseph did not wait to get out of prison to do the Lord’s work. He was available to bring God’s perspective to the people entrusted to his care.
Do not put your dreams on hold. God has you where you are for a season and for a reason. You are on a mission for him. Look around and see what God is doing. When you find it, join him in that work. It will be more exciting than flying a plane!
