Happy Holidays

As we look back on the year, we have so much to celebrate.
  • The ever increasing enrollment of students with intellectual disabilities at colleges in Colorado
  • The acceptance of students with disabilities into new groups on college campuses, from Greek life to student government
  • The many employment opportunities students are accessing via inclusive higher education
  • More and more students living independently in dorms and apartments
And then there is you. We are incredibly grateful to you, our followers and supporters. Thank you for joining us in our mission to make Colorado truly inclusive. We wish you all the best this holiday season! We look forward to your continued support in the next year.
For this edition, we chose to share a variety of perspectives on inclusive higher education.
Enjoy!

Student Perspective

We interviewed students receiving support via the Office of Inclusive Services at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
“I love meeting new people and learning new things about myself, like self advocacy."
~Reilly
“I want students to go to college to have a new life and new experiences - to be able to discover what college is.”
~Brianna
“College [is] like high school, only this time you get to live your own life, live independently, experience the world, and also, college is really fun."
~Ben

Parent Perspective

A Special Thank You to Peer Mentors & Faculty

Inclusion depends on everyone on a college campus. On average, 50+ professors have a student with an intellectual disability in one of their courses each semester. In addition, a handful of students at each school serve as peer mentorsproviding support and fostering social inclusion on campus. Only with these partnerships, and the greater college community, are we able to truly spread inclusion across college campuses.

Help us reach our year end campaign goal!

INclusivist (in:clu:si:vist): noun: a person who believes Higher Education is an opportunity that should be made available to all!
This winter we launched a campaign to raise $10,000. We are 1/3 of the way to reaching our goal. Every dollar raised creates more opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to attend college in Colorado. Please consider joining us as an INclusivist. Every donation counts, no matter what size.
