James 4:7-8
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
New International Version (NIV)
Remember the story of the old farmer whose wife said to him when they got in the pickup truck, “We used to sit side by side.”  He answered, “I have not moved.”
How do we get closer to God?  James reminds us it begins with submission.  We do not draw near to God with our conditions and provisos.  Every day we can submit to God and resist the devil.
God has not moved.  We dare not traipse into his presence as double-minded sinners.  So we wash our hands and purify our hearts.  As far as we can, we modify both the external and internal patterns of our lives which run counter to Christ.  We repent because the King is near, and we want to draw close to him.  He welcomes us back with open arms.
Pray with me:
Father, you promise that if we will draw near to you, that you will draw near to us.  Make it happen today, we pray.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
