Wisconsin Leadership Council (WLC)

McKinley of the Campbellsport 4-H Club was recently elected to the Wisconsin Leadership Council. McKinley, along with other youth and adults, will have a voice in statewide programming and opportunities.
The Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council (WLC) provides a statewide forum for youth and adult volunteer leaders to discuss ideas and provide input to enhance UW-Madison Extension 4-H Youth Development programs at the state, county, and local levels. WLC members:
  • Serve as leaders and role models for 4-H youth and adults
  • Advocate for Wisconsin 4-H
  • Provide input for enhancing the 4-H program
  • Provide educational opportunities to 4-H members and leaders
  • Connect the county, regional, and state levels of Wisconsin 4-H, as well as the Wisconsin
    4-H Foundation
Elected at the annual Fall Forum, the WLC helps to plan multiple statewide programs and provides leadership in those settings.
Congratulations McKinley!

Officer Training - Saturday, Dec 2

All 4-H club officers elected for the 2023-2024 4-H year are invited and encouraged to participate in the annual club officer training. It will be held on Saturday, December 2. Check-in will be from 9:30-10:00. Workshop is scheduled 10 am - 12 pm at Extension Fond du Lac County. A free pizza lunch will follow the workshop!

Participants will learn the responsibilities of their officer positions, so all officers should attend. Officers will also meet other 4-H members from throughout the county, and this will give them a chance to exchange ideas and build new relationships. Youth do not have to be incoming club officers to attend the training. Spread the word and invite your friends!  All participants must RSVP by Monday, November 27. If we don’t have a minimum of 20 youth signed up, we will cancel the event.

Youth grades 7 and above come participate in Winter Leadership Camp! A weekend full of leadership development and fun! From team building and making new friends to winter recreation and campfire, there will be something for everyone! Youth will participate in hands-on, interactive sessions to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a leader and how to apply being a youth leader in their club, county, and school.
Adult leader volunteers are needed as chaperones to support youth in learning leadership skills and experiencing the great outdoors.
More information will be coming soon!

Youth Thriving Survey

4-H Thriving Survey --Check your email inbox (the one you use with 4H Online) for your link to participate in the Wisconsin 4-H Thriving Survey!  Youth ages 13-18 will receive a link to share your input about your 4-H experiences.

The results will help us evaluate and communicate how 4-H helps young people to learn new things, develop leadership skills, manage goals, set high personal standards, create positive academic attitudes, and other skills that lead to long-term success in life.
The survey was sent to all Wisconsin 4-H members by e-mail in the first week of November and reminders have been sent as well. The survey link will be open until December 1. Youth who complete the survey will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift card. Fill out the survey to help Wisconsin achieve a 30% response rate.
For more information on the 4-H Thriving Model and some of the results from the 2022 4-H Thriving Study in Wisconsin, please visit 4-H Thriving Model – Wisconsin 4-H.

Family Learning Day (Feb 24) Seeking Presenters

Family Learning Day allows 4-H members (grades 5K-12) and the community to learn a new skill or gain fresh ideas.

Please help make this day successful by volunteering to teach a session or two. If you need help with your session, invite another person to co-teach with you. The program is held at the UWO Fond du Lac campus. Sessions 1 and 5 are 60 minutes, Sessions 3 and 4 are 45 minutes and Session 2 is 90 minutes. Indicate the length and time of day that fits your needs. You may repeat your session if you wish.

Many of the sessions typically offered at Family Learning Day can be put into a project kit. If you are interested but cannot teach in person, please consider this option. All kits must include a written set of instructions. If possible, please include pictures of the steps along with the instructions. If you would like to offer a virtual session to teach or make an instructional video to be viewed while the youth completes the kit, you are welcome to do so, but it is not necessary.

Complete the form below by December 1. You will receive notice of the number of participants in your session approximately 2 weeks before the event. Fond du Lac County 4-H Adult Leaders Association will provide lunch for presenters who request it on this registration form.

Questions: Contact Extension Fond du Lac County at 920-929-3171.
