Artist Boat Selected for $10,000 Land Acquisition Grant

A view of the Anchor Bay tract looking from south to north.

Artist Boat Coastal Heritage Preserve was selected for a $10,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Great Texas Birding Classic. The Colluding Curlews, who took first place in a weeklong birding tournament, were given the honor of selecting the winner. We sincerely appreciate this team for entrusting Artist Boat with the honor of this award.  The $10,000 will be used toward the purchase of 75-acres of land within the Anchor Bay tract.  The purchased tract will be added to and managed as part of the Coastal Heritage Preserve. This project will conserve foraging, roosting, and wintering habitats used by numerous coastal-dependent and migratory bird species, including federal and state threatened species.
