Graduate Students' Design Responsible for Bridging Gap on the Westside

Inspired by one of modern London’s most famous landmarks, a team of Georgia Tech students has created a winning design for a bridge to guide future growth of Georgia Tech’s campus and the city of Atlanta. The Westside Community Connector Bridge Class combined an architecture studio and a civil engineering special problems course, resulting in a collaborative design competition during the Fall 2022 semester.

The Grad Diaries will shed light on shared challenges, successes, and emotions that students balance while navigating through graduate school. Please note: The form to submit a journal entry is comprehensive and may take time to complete.

Registration for 3MT is Extended!
|
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition challenges students to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Preliminary rounds will be held March 7, 8, & 9. The 3MT final competition takes place April 6, 2023. Registration has been extended until Monday, February 13.

Tech's Career Center, in collaboration with the University System of Georgia (USG), is launching a new Career Planning Resource Platform powered by Steppingblocks. The Career Planning Resource Platform uses data to help users make informed career decisions and includes features such as a 20-question personality assessment, career path explorer, institutional outcomes explorer, and tuition analyzer.

Taxes 101 for graduate students

Calling all graduate students who received any form of income ( from fellowships, scholarships, or a GRA/GTA position) in 2022: Representatives from the Office of Graduate Education, Global Human Resources, and the Bursar's Office, have teamed up to help educate you on the dos and don’ts of filing taxes as a graduate student. This virtual workshop is free to attend.

Funding Opportunity:
NSF-sponsored Student International Research Experience
|
Study autonomous mobility in complex natural environments during this 13-week summer program that includes a one-week orientation in Blacksburg, VA in May, followed by twelve weeks of international research. Students receive a $5,000 stipend, international travel (including roundtrip airfare, airport transportation, visa fee and international health insurance), and all lodging during the program. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2023.

Dissertation Defense Room now accepting graduate students

Starting this semester all masters students are welcome to use the library's fourth-floor Dissertation Defense Room, located in Price Gilbert, to defend their thesis. The Georgia Tech Library Dissertation Defense Room is a space where PhD and Master's candidates can host, defend, stream, and record their dissertation.
